A smiling pilot with a teacup-shaped head and a little side handle sits in the open cockpit of a propeller plane, hands on the controls. Flight goggles perch on his head and a scarf flutters out behind him. Alongside the plane, a small, round, happy bird flaps its wings as if it's racing him. The striped wings, big spiral nose cone and spinning propeller leave lots of room for bold color. Puffy clouds drift above and below. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big sky areas: color the clouds in pale blue and leave the outlines of the bottom-right and top-right clouds white if you like a lighter look.
- 2Fill the whole plane body, wings, and tail fins with bright red, then add the stripes on the wings and tail in golden yellow.
- 3Color the pilot's head and ears in cream, the bird's body and wings in golden yellow, and its beak in amber.
- 4Paint the engine in golden yellow with bright blue rings in the center, and color the propeller blades light gray with a golden yellow hub.
- 5Add the brown jacket, the bright blue scarf, and the goggle lenses in light blue, leaving the eye whites, goggle highlight, and white collar uncolored.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading with brown or dark gray on the jacket folds and the gray lever to give the drawing more depth.
