High up in the sky, a smiling curly-haired cupid with big feathered wings pulls back a bow, and the arrow has a heart-shaped tip. He wears a draped cloth tied at the hip with a ribbon, and his bare feet trail behind as he flies. Puffy clouds fill the page corners while little heart outlines float nearby, so it's an easy Valentine's Day scene. Wings, curls, and clouds are large, clear shapes that preschoolers and early elementary kids can handle with chunky crayons. Older kids can take their time on the fine curls and feather lines. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the clouds and both wings with sky blue, leaving the small gaps between the clouds white.
- 2Fill the curly hair with golden yellow, using light strokes so it looks soft.
- 3Color the face, arms, hands, legs, and torso with light peach, keeping the eye whites, the diaper, and the white cloth flap white.
- 4Color the bow, the belt knot, and the curl at the bottom of the bow with golden yellow.
- 5Color the arrow tip and all the hearts with cherry red.
- 6Optional: add a slightly deeper peach on the shoulders and under the legs to give the body a little depth.
