Birds on Ice: Baby Penguin Tummy Slide

Coloring guide
This happy little penguin zooms across the ice on its belly, head up, with a wide open beak and big shiny eyes. Two tiny feet kick up behind it while the flippers stretch out to either side. Small splash marks on the left and right, plus curved lines on the snow ahead, show how fast it's moving. Two rounded snowy hills sit along the horizon, and two detailed snowflakes drift in the sky. Thick, clear outlines and large open areas make it a good pick for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Sky blue for the snowflakes and splashes, black and gray on the body and orange for the beak and feet all work well. Leave the round tummy and face white. - charcoal gray
- pale blue
- orange
- sky blue
- golden yellow
- coral pink
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the hills and snow caps: color the two hills in pale blue and leave the snowy tops white.
- 2Fill the penguin's back, head, and right flipper with charcoal gray, keeping the face area white.
- 3Color the two raised flippers in orange and the beak in golden yellow.
- 4Add the tongue in coral pink and color the water droplets and the two snowflakes in sky blue, keeping the snowflake arms that are shown white.
- 5Optional: Add a little light shading on the gray areas with short strokes to give the penguin a soft, textured look.
