Swirly Striped Baby Zebra

Coloring guide
A smiling baby zebra stands with its head tipped to one side, big round eyes looking out at you. The stripes are the best part. Instead of plain bands, they curl into little spirals on the shoulder, the hip and all four legs. There's a spiky, fluffy mane down the neck, perked-up ears, and a tail that ends in a leaf-shaped tuft. A few small clumps of grass sit near the hooves, and the background is blank. Large shapes and clear outlines work for preschoolers, and the swirls give older kids something to chew on. Bright rainbow colors in alternating stripes look fun instead of black, or you could shade the spirals in purple and teal. Grab it free, no sign-up needed. A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- charcoal gray
- warm taupe
- coral pink
- slate gray
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by filling the inside of both ears with coral pink, leaving the outer ear outlines white.
- 2Color the muzzle and nose area with warm taupe, keeping the nostrils and smile lines as they are.
- 3Fill the dark stripes in the mane and the tail tip with charcoal gray, leaving the bright strands white.
- 4Color the swirly body stripes, the neck stripes and the legs with charcoal gray, following the curls and leaving the white stripes between them.
- 5Use slate gray on the small shaded parts of the right hind leg and the lower legs.
- 6Optional: add a few light slate gray strokes near the edges of the dark stripes for a soft, hand-drawn texture.
