Adult Coloring Owl Perched on a Leafy Branch

This cheerful owl is sitting on a tree branch with big round eyes, long eyelashes and an open, smiling beak. It has two pointed ear tufts and a rounded face outline, and rows of scalloped feathers cover its chest. The wings are folded at its sides in layered feather shapes, and curled toes grip the branch while the tail feathers fan out below. Leaves sprout along the branch on the right and at the bottom left, which gives you a few small spots to fill in. The outlines are thick and clean, so kids building pencil control can handle it, and it prints free for classroom or home. Warm browns and tans work nicely on the chest scallops. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big cream areas: the owl's face, chest and belly feathers, leaving the eye whites and the small shine spots white.
- 2Color the wings and tail feathers warm brown, working one feather row at a time.
- 3Paint the thick branch and the small twig in chocolate brown, keeping the bright background white.
- 4Color the leaves leaf green, then fill the beak and the owl's feet and claws golden yellow.
- 5Optional: add a little darker brown along the lower edges of the wing feathers for a bit of depth.
