Front-Facing Elephant Portrait With Tusks and Big Ears

Coloring guide
Here's a friendly elephant looking right out at you, with big round eyes, curved eyebrows and a gentle expression. Two large ears frame the head, and long curved lines inside them are fun to shade. The long trunk hangs down the middle with lots of horizontal wrinkles and a little curl at the tip, and a short pointed tusk sits on each side. There's no background, so kids can concentrate on the face and add anything they like. Large shapes and clean outlines work well with crayons or markers for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Blue-gray on the head, pink inside the ears and cream on the tusks is one idea. It's a free PDF you can print for class time or a rainy day. This fits right in with our Elephant coloring pages — see also Wolves and Lion.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- light gray
- pale cream
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the elephant head and both big ears with light gray, using gentle strokes that follow the curve of the ears.
- 2Color the trunk and its curled tip light gray too, so it matches the head.
- 3Color both tusks pale cream, leaving a little bit of white near the tips for a soft highlight.
- 4Keep the eyes white with black pupils, and leave the background white.
- 5Optional: Add a few light gray lines along the shaded side of the head and trunk to give the elephant some depth.
