Mountain Valley Deer Beneath a Rainbow
Coloring guide
A big rainbow arches over snowy mountain peaks in this peaceful valley scene while three deer share the stream below. An adult deer with antlers leans down to drink at the water's edge, a spotted fawn stands on the grass nearby and a second fawn grazes on the right bank. The stream winds back through a forest of tall pine trees toward the distant mountains, with rocks in the water and puffy clouds overhead. Daisy-style flowers and grassy tufts in the bottom corners add small details for little hands. This free printable works for a range of ages, with big shapes like the rainbow and clouds and finer detail in the trees and fur spots. Soft browns and tan look right for the deer, with white dots on the fawns, and the rainbow can use bright red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple bands. This fits right in with our Rainbow coloring pages — see also Mountain and Star.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the rainbow: color the top arc red, then orange, yellow, green, bright blue and violet purple, working from the outside stripe inward.
- 2Fill the sky clouds with pale blue, and color the mountains in mountain blue, leaving the snowy peaks white.
- 3Color the pine trees and the bushes in pine green and grass green, then add lime green to the grass and the grassy banks along the valley.
- 4Paint the river with water blue, leaving the small white highlights and the rocks in light gray or sage green.
- 5Color both deer in caramel brown, keeping the eyes and the antlers white, then add the bottom gray rocks and olive shrubs in the corners.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shade of pine green on the sides of the trees and mountains to give them depth.
