Early Steam Locomotive With Tall Chimney and Dome

Coloring guide
A side view of an old-style steam locomotive sits on a short stretch of track. It has a tall straight smokestack at the front, a rounded bottle-shaped dome behind it, and a smaller funnel near the back above a boxy cab. The cab has two framed panels on its side. Three spoked wheels are drawn, with the large middle one covered by a curved arch. The frame is lined with rows of small rivets, and there are rectangular axle boxes above each wheel. A round buffer sticks out at the front. Kids can pick out all those rivets with a fine marker or colored pencil, which is good fine motor practice. Try a dark green boiler, a red frame, and gold or brass tones on the dome and funnel. This free page also works well for talking with children about how early steam engines were put together.
