Three smiling elephants walk in a line over a grassy savanna. A big adult leads, a medium-sized young one follows in the middle, and a tiny baby brings up the back. A huge round sun sits low over distant hills, with flat-topped acacia trees on both sides and puffy outlined clouds above. In front you'll spot grass tufts, leafy plants, a few rocks and a small puddle or pond along the bottom. The large elephant shapes are easy for little hands, and the grass and branches give older kids some detail work. Warm grays and blues would suit the elephants, and bright oranges and yellows fill the sun and sky with an evening glow. This free printable is a good one for animal lovers at home or school. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big sun in sun yellow and fill the grassy savanna ground and grass in wheat yellow, leaving the clouds white.
- 2Color the water pond and the sky patches sky blue, and the distant hills lavender purple.
- 3Paint the three elephants' bodies and heads light gray, keeping the tusks white.
- 4Add coral pink to the elephants' ears and the small pink patches on the baby elephant.
- 5Fill the trees, bushes and grass with lime green and grass green, and color the tree trunks bark brown.
- 6Optional: add a little tan brown to the rocks by the water and a touch of darker gray under the elephants' bellies and legs for depth.
