Woodland Word FOREST with Fox, Deer and Owl

Coloring guide
The word FOREST stretches across the middle of this woodland scene in big bubble letters, ready for kids to color. At the bottom left sits a smiling baby fox with a fluffy tail, and a young spotted deer with small antlers stands beside it on the right. Higher up, a round-eyed owl perches on a leafy branch reaching out from a large tree trunk. Tall pine trees, rounded bushes, grass tufts, small plants and a few rocks fill the background. Thick, clear outlines suit preschoolers and early elementary kids, and the hollow letters leave room to get creative. You might use different greens and browns for the letters, warm orange fur for the fox and a soft tan coat with white spots for the deer. It's a free printable that's good for nature lessons, spelling practice or a quiet afternoon at home. Browse more Words coloring pages, or explore Activity Sheets and Alphabet for even more fun.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the pine trees and bushes: fill the big trees and leafy bushes in forest green and bright green, leaving the sky and the tall tree trunk on the right white.
- 2Color the tree trunks and the owl's head and wings in medium brown, and the rocks at the bottom in light gray.
- 3Fill the big letters F, O, R, E, S and T in golden yellow, letting the green bush show through the middle of the O.
- 4Color the fox in bright orange, with a cream chest, muzzle and tail tip, dark brown paws, and pale pink inside the ears.
- 5Color the deer in caramel with a light tan face and ears, pale yellow spots and tail, and dark brown hooves; leave the antlers white. Optional: add a little darker brown shading under the owl's belly and the deer's legs for depth.
