Fox and Squirrel Ice Skating Side by Side on a Pond
Coloring guide
Side by side on a frozen pond, a smiling fox and a little squirrel glide along, with the fox gently holding the squirrel's hand. Both have striped scarves fluttering behind them and lace-up skates. The fox balances on one leg with the other foot lifted and its big fluffy tail swooping out behind, while the squirrel skates with arms stretched wide and a curly tail. Snow-covered evergreens, small bushes and curved ice lines surround them, and three acorns rest on a snowy bank in the bottom corner. Big shapes are easy for small hands, and the scarves, acorns and branches offer finer detail for older kids. Orange for the fox, warm brown for the squirrel and acorns, and red and white stripes on the scarves would all look good. A cozy free printable for winter at home or in class. This fits right in with our Ice Skating coloring pages — see also Baseball and NFL / Football.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the fox's body, head, tail, and arms in orange, and the squirrel's body and tail in orange too, leaving the cream cheeks and chest for later.
- 2Fill the pine trees and bushes with forest green, leaving the snowy tops white.
- 3Color the pond and ice in pale ice blue and sky blue, and the acorns and snow bank with chestnut brown and white.
- 4Add the fox's and squirrel's cream muzzles, chest fur, and cheeks, and the blush pink inner ears.
- 5Color the scarves and skate boots in royal blue on the fox and raspberry pink or rose pink on the squirrel, and leave the eye whites and sparkles white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker orange along the edges of the fox's tail and ears for a bit of shading.
