Baking Cookies in the Kitchen With a Grinch-Style Monster

At a kitchen counter stands a big, fluffy monster with two little horns and a wide smile, rolling a pin across a flat piece of cookie dough. His stitched apron has a pocket decorated with three small flowers, and the tied bow shows at his side. The counter holds a mixing bowl with a spoon, a star-shaped cookie cutter and a gingerbread-man cutter. At the lower right, a baking tray is ready for coloring with star cookies and two gingerbread men. Behind him you'll find a window, a shelf with a potted plant and a lidded jar, and a container of spatulas and spoons. His fur gives kids plenty of short-stroke texture to practice. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the monster's fur, face, arms and hands with tangerine orange, leaving the eye whites and the tips of the horns white.
- 2Fill the apron, its pocket, ribbon and bow with sky blue, and paint the window sky sky blue too.
- 3Color the utensil jar and its lid teal blue, and the spatula handles and plant leaves leaf green, with the red spatula in coral red.
- 4Fill the cookie dough, mixing bowl batter and star cookies with butter yellow, then color the gingerbread cookies and rolling pins caramel brown.
- 5Paint the flower pots peach orange, the baking tray and star cookie cutter light gray, and leave the shelf background white.
- 6Optional: add a little darker caramel brown shading along the fur and under the apron for depth.
