Downhill Sled Ride With a Gift Sack, The Grinch Page
Coloring guide
A furry, bear-like character with a big grin races down a snowy hill on a wooden sled. Both paws grip the sled's rope handles while snow sprays up on either side. Over his shoulder is a large sack tied with a rope-style cord, and a wrapped present with a big bow rides on top. Snow-covered pines and rolling hills fill the background. Shaggy fur, splashing snow and a slatted sled give kids lots of different areas to color. Warm brown or soft gray would suit the fur, red the gift and bow, and a little light blue shading the snow spray. Save it as a free PDF for classroom time or a rainy day. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big red gift sack on the Grinch's back using bright red, and fill the gift box and its bow with the same bright red and golden yellow.
- 2Color the Grinch's whole body, arms, legs, hands and feet in lime green, leaving the eye whites and the bright highlight on the arm white.
- 3Fill the sled planks in warm brown and the metal runners and crossbars in light gray, keeping a few small wood highlights white.
- 4Add forest green to the evergreen trees on both sides and a small sage green tree in the distance, leaving the snow on the branches white.
- 5Paint the pale sky blue snow spray around the sled and on the hill, leaving the background hill and ground snow white.
- 6Optional: Add a slightly darker shade of lime green along the Grinch's fur edges and a touch of charcoal gray on the rope knots for depth.
