A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big gingerbread house walls and the tall gingerbread man, filling them with gingerbread brown and leaving the snow and frosting white.
- 2Color the mother and little gingerbread figures in gingerbread brown, using light tan for the little boy's hair and blush pink for the mother's collar.
- 3Fill the door and the windows: make the door forest green with a golden yellow knob, and color the window panes sky blue.
- 4Add the candy red parts: the bow ties, the hair bows, the chimney bricks, the candy stripes on the posts and the peppermint swirl on the roof.
- 5Color the Christmas tree forest green with a dark brown trunk and a golden yellow star, then add candy red and white ornaments.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker brown shading along the edges of the gingerbread figures to make them look puffy.
