Snowy Gingerbread House with Gumdrop Roof and Smoking Chimney

A little gingerbread house sits in the snow with a thick, wavy layer of icing across its steep roof. Round gumdrop candies are spread over the roof, and a stone-looking chimney with a snowy cap sends wavy smoke lines into the sky. On the front gable there is a heart with swirly icing, a big peppermint swirl, a bow, and small dots. The arched door is framed with a candy cane stripe and has a round knob and a little window. A frosted window with a bowed candy sill is beside it, and a side window has heart shutters. Striped candy posts mark the corners, with gumdrops and flat stepping stones on the ground. Try coloring the peppermint swirl in alternating red and white, then give every gumdrop a different color so kids can practice picking patterns.
