Two young giraffes stand side by side while their long necks curve inward and cross, shaping a big heart between them. They're nose to nose, with big eyes, long lashes, and gentle smiles. Each has small horns topped with round knobs and rounded ears. Large bumpy patches cover their bodies and are fun to color one at a time. A few flowers and small grass tufts sit around the hooves, and each giraffe has a tufted tail swishing at its side. Roomy open spaces help little hands, and the patches keep older kids busy. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the bodies, necks, heads and legs of both giraffes with light yellow, leaving the heart gap between the necks and the background between the legs white.
- 2Add warm brown spots across the bodies, necks, and legs, varying their size as you go.
- 3Color the inside of both ears blush pink and the flower in the grass hot pink.
- 4Paint the hooves, tail tufts, and the little knobs on top of the heads dark brown.
- 5Use deep gold for the small highlight patches on the necks near the heads, and add a touch of light yellow to the tail and rump.
- 6Optional: add a few light strokes of deep gold on the light yellow areas to give the giraffes a bit of warm shading.
