Beach Day for a Baby Elephant
Coloring guide
Ready for a day by the sea, this baby elephant stands on a sandy shore with its trunk curled up and big, cheerful eyes. Gentle waves roll in behind it beneath a large striped beach umbrella. A sun with little rays shines above, and a seagull glides overhead. Up front, a bucket and a small shovel rest in the sand next to a sandcastle with towers, arched doors and a tiny flag on top. Big ears and smooth outlines work well for young kids, while the sandcastle and waves give older children small details to color. Blue-gray suits the elephant, and the umbrella looks great with bright stripes. Grab this free printable for a summer afternoon or a classroom beach theme. Looking for more? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sea on both sides of the beach using ocean blue, following the wavy lines.
- 2Color the elephant's body, head, legs, and trunk in light gray, then fill the big ear with the same light gray.
- 3Fill the inside of the right ear with coral pink, and color the tongue salmon red.
- 4Color the umbrella panels by alternating bright red and bright yellow, with golden yellow on a few panels and the pole in warm brown.
- 5Color the sun bright yellow, the seagull pale silver, the sandcastle and sand sandy tan, the bucket bright red with a deep red band, and the shovel blade ocean blue.
- 6Leave the eye whites, sky, and toenails cream or white, then add charcoal gray to the tail. Optional: add light shading on the elephant with a slightly darker gray for depth.
