Bear Cub Gathering Berries on a Fall Walk
Coloring guide
A smiling bear cub strolls through the woods with a woven basket full of round berries, acorns and leaves. It has a big open-mouth grin, round ears, a fluffy chest and one foot lifted mid-step. On the left stands a tall tree trunk with a leafy branch, and on the right are a small pine tree and a rocky cave opening. Falling leaves drift down and settle among the grass tufts, bushes and a few small rocks. Preschoolers will like the large shapes, and older kids can enjoy the basket weave and acorn caps. Golden brown suits the bear's fur, deep purple or blue the berries, and reds and oranges the falling leaves. This free printable PDF is ready for a quiet afternoon at home or at school. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big bear body and head in chestnut brown, leaving the eye whites and the light fur patch by the cheek white.
- 2Color the tree trunk and the large rock in cool gray and chestnut brown, keeping the bark patches and highlights white.
- 3Fill the tree foliage, leaves and the bushes with leaf green, adding forest green on the darker shadows near the trunk.
- 4Color the basket weave in amber brown and honey yellow, then fill the berries and acorns with cherry red, royal blue and golden yellow.
- 5Add the pale peach inner ears, the light caramel acorn caps and the coral pink tongue, then color the fallen leaves and small tufts of grass in golden yellow.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of amber brown along the bear's belly and the rock edges for depth, and leave the eye shine white.
