Girl Throwing Her Graduation Cap Skyward
Coloring guide
Both arms go straight up as this cheerful little girl with long hair and bangs sends her mortarboard sailing over her head, tassel swinging. She's wearing a loose gown with wide, flowing sleeves and a V-shaped front, plus little Mary Jane style shoes. That big smile and those sparkling eyes make the celebration easy to feel. She's standing on a small grassy hill with a few tufts of grass at her feet, and a puffy cloud floats in the sky on each side. The large open shapes of the gown and cap suit small hands, while the hair and tassel give older kids a bit more to do. A royal blue gown and a gold tassel give it a classic graduation look. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the graduation gown: color the large body and sleeves in royal blue, leaving the strap-like center lines as dividing edges.
- 2Fill the graduation cap top and its underside band in navy blue, then color the cap tassel strings with a light touch of the same blue.
- 3Color the two clouds in sky blue, leaving the white outline shine on each one as is.
- 4Paint the face, hands and neck in light peach, then use warm brown for the hair, including the strands near the ears and at the ends.
- 5Color the collar in golden yellow and the open mouth in rose pink, leaving the teeth area white.
- 6Finish with charcoal gray for the shoes and socks, leaving the sandal straps white, and keep the grass and background white. Optional: add a little darker blue along the gown folds for depth.
