Four instruments at once? No problem for this smiling octopus with big sparkly eyes. One tentacle shakes a tambourine high in the air, another holds a small flute to its mouth, a third strums a guitar, and two more hold drumsticks over a round drum with a zigzag triangle pattern on its side. Bubbles of different sizes float around the head, with a few more drifting at the sides, and wavy seaweed and little pebbles sit on the sandy sea floor at the bottom. Suckers along the tentacles and spots on the head offer lots of small areas to fill in. Go with a bright purple or orange octopus and contrasting shades for the drum triangles so the pattern stands out. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the octopus head, body, and all tentacles with tangerine orange, leaving the eye shines, mouth opening, and small sucker stripes white.
- 2Color the guitar body and lower guitar area golden yellow, and leave the guitar strings area white.
- 3Color the drum top and drumsticks cream, then fill the drum rims with cherry red and the drum triangles with bright blue and sunny yellow.
- 4Color the tambourine head cream, the flute grass green, the tongue rose pink, and the top tentacle tips soft pink.
- 5Fill the seaweed with grass green and forest green, the bubbles with light sky blue, and the rocks with cool gray.
- 6Optional: Add a little deep orange shading on the tentacle edges and the guitar side for a bit more depth.
