Sleepy Octopus Tucked into a Scallop Shell

Coloring guide
A drowsy little octopus with closed, lash-fringed eyes and a tiny smile is snuggled inside a big open scallop shell. A few small bubble-like spots sit on its round head, and its curly tentacles swirl in front of its body with suction cups along the curled arms. The shell's wide, rounded ridges fan out behind it like a frame, and the bottom half cups the octopus like a cozy bed. Down in the corner, a smiling starfish with dotted arms rests on the sandy seafloor beside a few small pebbles and bubbles. Thick, clean outlines make it friendly for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Soft lavender or coral pink looks nice on the octopus against a warm peach or pale yellow shell, and a bit of orange on the starfish adds some cheer. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big octopus head, its curly arms, and the lower shell rim and base in lavender purple, leaving the three small bubbles on the head white.
- 2Fill the top fan of the shell by alternating coral pink and pale yellow sections, like the example.
- 3Color the starfish orange, keeping its little dots, eyes, and smile white.
- 4Color the small pebble on the sand in sandy gold.
- 5Optional: add a slightly darker lavender purple along the edges of the tentacles and shell for depth.
