Fall Leaf Pile Dance With a Raccoon

Dancing on top of a heaped pile of autumn leaves, a cheerful raccoon with big sparkly eyes and an open smile throws both arms up and lifts one foot mid-step. The bold-ringed tail curls out behind it, and the fluffy chest fur adds fun texture. More leaves in different shapes, maple-style and plain oval, drift down around it, and two bare trees and a few low bushes frame the background. The big leaf pile at the bottom has lots of small sections to fill in. Oranges, reds and golden yellows suit the leaves, while soft grays and browns fit the raccoon, with a dark mask around the eyes. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the grass green and the tree trunks tree brown, leaving the sky background white.
- 2Fill the raccoon's head, body, and fluffy side fur with light gray, and color the inner ears light pink.
- 3Color the eye masks, tail stripes, and raised paw dark gray or charcoal gray, keeping the eye whites and the teeth white.
- 4Fill the cream muzzle patch with cream white, then color the big leaf pile at the bottom using bright orange, honey orange, burnt orange, brick red, and rust brown.
- 5Add lemon yellow and golden yellow to the leaves in the pile and the floating leaves in the air, mixing them with the oranges.
- 6Optional: add a few small white highlights on the leaves and a little darker shading on the tail and the leaves underneath to make them look more dimensional.
