Corn Cob Vegetable Character with Big Husk Leaves

Coloring guide
Peeking out between two tall husk leaves, this ear of corn has a big open-mouthed smile and sparkly round eyes. The kernels are drawn as chunky rounded squares, so little hands can color them one by one without trouble. Two smaller leaves curl outward at the bottom, and a short stem base anchors the picture. There's no background at all, which leaves lots of white space for kids to add their own ideas. Sunny yellow kernels, fresh green husks and rosy pink for the cheeks and mouth give the corn extra personality. It suits toddlers and preschoolers, and it fits a harvest week or a lesson about vegetables. Print it at home whenever you need a quick coloring break. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the corn kernels: fill the whole cob with golden yellow, leaving small gaps between the kernels so the outlines stay visible.
- 2Color the big husk leaves on both sides and the two smaller leaves at the bottom with leaf green, working from the tips down toward the base.
- 3Fill the short stalk piece at the bottom of the cob and its collar with pale green.
- 4Add the smiling mouth in coral pink, and leave the eyes and their shiny highlights white or lightly touched.
- 5Optional: Add a few darker green lines along the leaves and a little extra yellow shading on the lower kernels to give the cob some depth.
