Corn Cob Vegetable with Husk Leaves and a Big Smile
Coloring guide
Front and center sits a happy ear of corn with a big open smile, wide sparkling eyes and small curved eyebrows. Rows of rounded kernels run up the cob and shrink toward the pointed top, giving kids lots of little shapes to fill. Large husk leaves curve up both sides and a short stem sits at the bottom. Three loose kernels rest in the lower right corner. Outlines are bold and clean, so chunky crayons work for preschoolers while older kids can try careful shading. Bright yellow kernels, fresh green husks and a light tan or brown stem make a good combination. A free printable that suits a harvest or healthy-eating lesson, or just a quiet afternoon of coloring. This fits right in with our Vegetable coloring pages — see also For Girls and For Kids.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- golden yellow
- light green
- dark green
- soft pink
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the corn kernels: fill every kernel on the cob and the three loose kernels at the bottom right with golden yellow, leaving a tiny white gap between them.
- 2Color the cob face area golden yellow too, but keep the two eye whites and the small shine dots white.
- 3Fill the two big husk leaves on the left and right, plus the thick stalk at the bottom, with light green.
- 4Color the back husk leaves peeking out behind the cob with dark green so they look deeper in the background.
- 5Fill the open mouth with soft pink, then leave the background white.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of dark green along the edges of the husks and a little extra golden yellow on the kernel edges for depth.
