Harp-Playing Mermaid on a Shell Rock
Coloring guide
A smiling young mermaid with long, wavy hair sits on a rock by the sea and plucks a small harp with curled scrollwork on top. There's a starfish clip in her hair and a scalloped seashell top on her. Her tail slides down the rock in rows of round scales and finishes in a wide, ribbed fin. Music notes and tiny bubbles float nearby, and the rock in front holds a clam shell, a spiral shell and a starfish. Gentle wavy lines mark the water, with the horizon behind her. Kids who love detail will enjoy this free printable, since the scales, hair and shells all offer lots of small spaces. Soft teal and lavender suit the tail, and a splash of sunny yellow on the harp helps the music stand out. Add this to your Mermaid coloring page collection, alongside Unicorns and Dragons.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the mermaid's tail scales and both tail fins with turquoise, using short curved strokes that follow the scale shapes.
- 2Color the face, arms, chest, hand and the area below the top with light peach, leaving the eyes and smile highlights white.
- 3Color the long wavy hair with auburn, leaving a few light strands white to suggest shine.
- 4Color the harp frame and curls golden yellow, and shade the lower part of the harp body with caramel orange.
- 5Color the shells: the shells on the rock and in the hair with light pink, lavender for the clam and bra shells, and golden yellow for the conch shells.
- 6Optional: Add darker turquoise shading along the bottom edge of each scale and a little bright orange on the small starfish for extra depth.
