Two flamingos face each other side by side, and their long, curvy necks bend inward until the heads and beaks meet and form a heart. Both birds have big round eyes, a small tuft on top of the head, a gentle smile and a layered wing with scalloped feathers. Each one has a leg bent and tucked across the other, and their feet rest on the ground. At the bottom, three flowers with round centers and simple petals sit in the grass among a few little tufts. The wide-open shapes in the necks and wings are easy for small hands to fill in. Classic bubblegum pink looks good on the bodies, with deeper rose on the wing feathers and yellow flower centers to finish. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill both flamingo bodies, necks and heads with flamingo pink, leaving the wing outlines and the eye whites clean.
- 2Color both long legs and feet with coral orange, including the bent leg shapes and the small toes.
- 3Color the upper parts of both beaks with apricot yellow and the beak tips with charcoal gray, leaving the eyes white with a small dark pupil.
- 4Paint the three flowers: the left and right flowers with golden yellow and apricot yellow centers, and the middle flower with lavender purple petals.
- 5Color all the leaves with leaf green, then leave the grass and flower stems white so they stand out.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker pink shading under the wings and along the necks to give the birds more depth.
