Camping Gear Page: Backpack, Boots and Water Bottle
Coloring guide
A big hiking backpack sits front and center, with a rolled-up sleeping mat held across the top by two buckled straps. The front has a large flap pocket with a buckle, and smaller side pockets close with little clasps. A pair of lace-up hiking boots with chunky treads sits in front of the pack, and beside them stands a tall water bottle with a cup-style lid and a small handle. Grass tufts are drawn around the bottom corners. Thick, clear outlines and roomy shapes keep it easy for young children, and older kids can add detail to the laces and boot soles. Olive green for the pack, bright orange for the mat and brown for the boots is one idea. It's a free printable for a camping day at home or in class. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big green areas: color the top flap, the front pocket and the side pockets sage green, then fill the main backpack body and lower side areas forest green.
- 2Color the rolled sleeping mat and the water bottle sky blue, leaving the small center circle of the roll for the next step.
- 3Fill the shoulder straps, front strap and buckle areas with rust brown, and use chocolate brown on the small buckle tabs and boot collars.
- 4Color the boot uppers and toe boxes caramel tan, then fill the boot soles and toe caps with charcoal gray and slate gray, leaving the laces white.
- 5Finish the bottle cap with charcoal gray, slate gray rings and a dark olive handle, and keep the small background gap between the boot and bag white.
- 6Optional: add a few diagonal pencil-style strokes in a slightly darker shade of each color to give the page a textured, hand-colored look.
