Horse Rearing on Hind Legs With Curling Mane

Horse Rearing on Hind Legs With Curling Mane coloring page

Coloring guide

A single horse rears up on its hind legs, with both front legs folded and lifted in front of its chest. Its head is turned to the side, ears up, and the long wavy mane streams down its neck and back in thick, curling strands. The tail is just as long and sweeps down the bottom of the page in loose ribbons. One front leg has a small band or wrap near the ankle, and the hooves are filled in solid black. Light lines on the neck, shoulder, and belly show muscle and skin folds. The tall, narrow shape works well on a vertical sheet. Try shading the body in a soft gradient, using a darker color along the folds to show the muscles, then picking two or three colors for the mane and tail so each wavy strand stands out. This free printable is also a nice prompt for talking about horse anatomy with kids.
