A wolf sits with its back mostly toward us, head tipped far back and mouth open in a howl aimed at a big crescent moon. Its ears are laid back, one with a dark inner patch, and the tail curls along the ground with a jagged, furry tip. Five small stars and a sixth tiny one scatter around the sky, and fluffy clouds drift in from the left and right edges. A few tufts of grass stick up along a flat horizon line behind the wolf, and a simple border with square corners frames the whole page. The big open shapes on the wolf's body are easy for small hands to fill in. Try coloring the sky in deep blues and purples, leaving the moon and stars bright, then talk about why we picture wolves howling at night.
