Two Wolves and Three Pups Walking Through Pines

Along a forest path, two big smiling wolves stride side by side while three tiny pups trot happily behind them in a line. The adults have thick, fluffy fur around their necks and chests. The pups have little pointed ears, round cheeks and curled tails. Tall pine trees with drooping branches fill the background, and ferns, leafy bushes, rocks and small stones line the trail. The fur texture gives kids fun detail to work on, and the large shapes keep it easy for younger children. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the tall pine trees and background greenery: fill the pine branches with forest green and dark green, and the smaller trees and grass with grass green and sage green.
- 2Color the winding dirt path with caramel, adding light tan along the edges and in the small shadowy spots.
- 3Fill the big gray wolf with warm gray and slate gray for its darker fur, and leave the top-right tree and the sky white.
- 4Color the cream wolf and the three pups with cream, then add peach inside the ears and noses, and slate gray on the pup ears and tails.
- 5Fill the ferns and leafy plants at the bottom with lime green, and color the tree trunk with walnut brown.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading under the wolves and pups, and leave small white highlights on the fur and eyes for sparkle.
