Iced Christmas Cookies Ready on a Baking Tray
Coloring guide
Four iced holiday cookies rest on a rectangular baking tray: a Christmas tree with wavy frosting and dots, a smiling star, a gingerbread man in a bow tie with three buttons, and a bell topped with a big bow. In the lower right corner lies a tree-shaped cookie cutter, and a checkered kitchen towel peeks out from under the left side of the tray. All those frosting squiggles and dots mean lots of small spaces to fill, so it's good practice for steady crayon or colored pencil work. Warm brown suits the gingerbread man, red and green frosting could go on the tree, and the star can be bright yellow. The towel would look cheerful in red or blue gingham. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the tray interior with charcoal gray, then color the tray rim with medium gray and its outer edges with light gray.
- 2Color the star cookie golden yellow, leaving the small round dots and the outline edge for a caramel orange touch.
- 3Color the three tree tiers and the tree cookie cutter leafy green, add a chocolate brown trunk, and fill the gingerbread man with gingerbread brown, leaving the cream white icing on the arms and legs unfilled.
- 4Fill the bell with christmas red on the body and bands, add golden yellow to the clapper and the center of the bow, and color the bow loops leafy green.
- 5Color the checkered cloth underneath in christmas red and coral red squares, leaving the white squares blank, and finish the gingerbread bow tie in christmas red.
- 6Optional: add light shading with a slightly darker shade along one side of each cookie to make the icing look more rounded.
