Here's a happy, big-eyed Bulbasaur gripping a kite string with both paws on a breezy day. The diamond kite floats way up high, trailing a long string and a tail with three bows, and little swirls show the wind rushing by. Bulbasaur stands on a small hill dotted with grass tufts, and two puffy clouds drift overhead. With its round cheeks, sparkly eyes and open smile, you can tell it's having a great time. The large leaves around its head and the bud on its back give kids lots of shapes to fill in. For color ideas, try teal and green on Bulbasaur, red or yellow for the kite, and a different shade for each of the three bows. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the main head body and the feet with lime green, leaving the highlights in the eyes white.
- 2Color the belly and the toes with cream yellow, then the large top leaf and the leaves on the back with grass green and forest green.
- 3Color the clouds with sky blue and the kite panels with bright blue, aqua blue, tangerine orange, golden yellow and tomato red, leaving the bottom kite panel white.
- 4Fill the shell pieces on the back with warm brown and the bows on the kite tail with golden yellow and bright blue.
- 5Add coral pink to the open mouth and the cheek blush.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker green along the edges of the leaves and shell for depth.
