Kitten Rescue with a Police Officer on a Ladder
Coloring guide
Up on a tall ladder leaning against a big leafy tree, a smiling officer gently lifts a striped kitten off a branch. The officer has a peaked cap, a shoulder badge, and a belt with a radio and pouches. Three kids stand below watching: a boy in a hoodie, a girl with a headband and her hands clasped, and a curly-haired child with a big grin. Bushes, grass tufts and clusters of leaves fill in the background. With its striped kitten and simple open shapes, it's a good page for kids who like a bit of a story in their picture. Orange stripes on the kitten and navy for the uniform look good, and the kids can pick their own outfit colors. Free to print for home or the classroom. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: fill the officer's shirt, pants and cap, the boy's red hoodie and the yellow shirt of the curly-haired child in medium blue, bright red and golden yellow.
- 2Color the grass and bushes in leaf green, including the tree leaves on the branch and the top right corner.
- 3Fill the ladder and the tree trunk edges in light wood tan and chocolate brown, keeping the rungs and rails consistent.
- 4Add skin tones in peach skin for all faces and hands, then use dark brown for the boy's hair and caramel brown for the girl's hair.
- 5Color the cat in tangerine orange with a soft pink nose, leaving the small eye highlights and the bright spot on the shoe white. Finish with charcoal gray for the shoes, belt and cap brim.
- 6Optional: add a slightly darker shade of medium blue on the officer's sleeves and pants for a bit more depth.
