This young officer is all smiles, standing tall with one hand up in a salute. Kids who like characters with a lot of personality will probably enjoy him. He has a peaked cap with a shield badge, a collared shirt and tie, shoulder epaulets, and two buttoned chest pockets. There's another badge on his chest, and at his waist you'll see a belt with a square buckle and a small holster pouch. On the right side, a little tree with a tuft of grass keeps him company. Bold lines and big shapes make it easy for younger kids to stay inside the edges. Deep navy would suit the uniform and cap, with golden yellow for the badges and buckle. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big skin areas: color the face, ears, neck, and both hands with peach skin, leaving the eye whites and the small highlight on the raised arm white.
- 2Fill the uniform shirt, both sleeves, the raised arm, and the chest pockets with sky blue, keeping the thin highlight stripe on the raised arm white.
- 3Color the trousers and the tie, cap crown, shoulder straps and collar pieces with navy blue.
- 4Add the hair in chestnut brown, and fill the cap brim, cap band, shoes, belt, and pouch with charcoal gray, using slate gray for the shoe soles.
- 5Give the tree leaves a leaf green fill and the trunk a warm brown, then color the badges on the cap and pocket golden yellow.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading under the cap brim and along the trousers to make the uniform look more rounded.
