Koala Napping Across a Thick Branch

Coloring guide
Here's a sleepy koala stretched out along a thick branch, eyes shut and a tiny smile on its face. One front paw dangles down on the left while the other arm rests over the branch. A back leg hangs near the bottom right, and the round fluffy bottom shows behind it. Big furry ears frame the head and a large oval nose sits in the middle of the face. Long pointed leaves hang in the top right and bottom left corners, and a few lines on the branch hint at bark. Outlines are bold and the shapes are big, which helps younger kids who are still learning to stay inside the lines. You could go with soft gray fur, a darker gray nose, fresh green leaves and a warm brown branch. This fits right in with our Koala coloring pages — see also Chameleon and Zebra.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- light gray
- warm brown
- leaf green
- soft pink
- charcoal gray
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the branch: fill the long branch across the page with warm brown, leaving the thin bark lines a little lighter if you like.
- 2Color the koala's whole body, head, arms, legs, feet, and tail with light gray, keeping the closed eyes and the white background untouched.
- 3Fill the inner parts of both ears with soft pink, then color the nose charcoal gray.
- 4Add the eucalyptus leaves in leaf green, including the hanging leaves at the top right and the two leaves on the left, leaving the small white gap between leaves empty.
- 5Optional: Add a little extra darker gray under the koala's belly and a touch of darker brown on the branch for shading.
