Learning Ice Skating with a Penguin Helper
Coloring guide
Leaning forward and gripping the top of a penguin-shaped skating helper, a smiling boy in a round vented helmet and zip-up jacket glides over the ice while he learns to balance. The penguin has a big oval belly, a small beak and its own little skates. One of the boy's legs stretches out behind him, which gives the scene a real sense of motion. Behind a rink fence, two kids in pom-pom beanies and scarves wave and cheer him on, and a few snowflakes are drawn in the sky. Swirly skate marks curve across the ice below. This free printable has large shapes for small hands, plus fun details like the helmet vents and scarves for older kids. Light icy blue could work for the jacket and pants, with a classic black and white penguin and an orange beak. - 1Start with the big areas: color the boy's jacket, hood and jacket cuffs red, and fill the penguin's head with charcoal black, leaving its face and belly white.
- 2Fill the boy's pants and jeans with dark blue, then color his skate boots and the penguin's red skate bases, keeping the skate blades light gray.
- 3Paint the boy's helmet and mittens sky blue, and color his face and hands peach, leaving the eye whites and shiny highlights white.
- 4Give the penguin an orange beak, orange flippers and a little orange mouth detail, and color the boy's hair brown.
- 5Finish the background kids: pink hats and mittens on the left, green hat and jacket on the right, a purple scarf, and golden yellow scarf, then add the rink rails and gray posts.
