Perched high on a wooden lifeguard chair, a cheerful baby turtle grins wide with a whistle hanging from a cord around his neck. His shell peeks out behind him, and his spotted flippers rest on the rails and seat. Down below the tall ladder, the beach has a striped beach ball, two polka-dot swim rings and sand with little ripples. Two big beach umbrellas stand on either side, and gentle waves roll along the shore behind. A sunny sun with rays, fluffy clouds and a few seagulls finish off the summer sky. Shapes are large and clear, so preschoolers and early elementary kids can both manage it. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the turtle's head, arms, legs and hands lime green, leaving the eye whites and the little white dots on the head white.
- 2Color the shell and the back of the turtle's head chocolate brown, then fill the shirt and the sand with pale yellow.
- 3Color the lifeguard chair, its rungs and the umbrella stripes with coral red and bright red, leaving the white umbrella panels white.
- 4Color the sea and the long waves sky blue, the clouds pale blue and the sun golden yellow, keeping the background white where the drawing shows it.
- 5Color the beach ball top and bottom golden yellow, its sides ocean blue and orange, and the inflatable rings bright red and golden yellow with the dots golden yellow. Optional: add a little darker shading on the sand and the chair legs.
