Little Tiger Cub Swinging a Lantern for Chinese New Year

Coloring guide
This smiling baby tiger sits upright with one front paw raised, holding a round paper lantern by its little handle. The lantern has curved ribs and a tassel at the bottom, and a few short motion lines beside it show it swinging gently. The cub has big round eyes, rounded ears, whiskers and a happy open mouth. Bold stripes mark the forehead, cheeks, body and legs, and a long striped tail curls around the left side. Two fluffy clouds and four small stars fill the sky behind it. Thick outlines and generous open spaces make it a good fit for young children with crayons or chunky markers. Orange with black stripes suits the tiger, and a lucky red lantern with golden yellow for the tassel and stars finishes it off. A free printable for a Lunar New Year activity at home or in class. - 1Start with the big orange areas: fill the head, chest, body, arm and cheeks with tiger orange, leaving the eye whites and the white highlights untouched.
- 2Color the two clouds sky blue and the two side stars golden yellow, keeping the top star and the background white.
- 3Fill the lantern body with bright red, then color its top and bottom bands and the tassel top golden yellow. Make the tassel bottom bright red.
- 4Add the dark brown stripes on the forehead, cheeks, tail, legs and back, following the lines of the drawing.
- 5Color the inner ears, the open mouth and the nose soft pink, and fill the back paw with light cream.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker orange along the edges of the body and tail for a bit of depth, leaving the white highlights bright.
