Stargazing Squirtle with a Telescope
Coloring guide
Up on a grassy hill, a little turtle peers through a telescope at the night sky. It has a swirly spiral shell, a leafy crest on its head and big curious eyes. Overhead there's a crescent moon, a shooting star with a curved trail, and plenty of small stars in different sizes to color. Three friendly fireflies hover around the hillside, and grass tufts, little pebbles and soft rolling hills with bushes fill the background. Big, clear shapes make this free printable a good match for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Deep blue or purple for the sky, bright yellow for the moon and stars, and warm green on the shell will make the spiral stand out. It's a calm, dreamy activity for bedtime or a quiet afternoon. - 1Start with the turtle's head, body, raised arm and small feet in lime green, leaving the belly area for later.
- 2Fill the head spikes with leaf green and grass green, then color the hills and grass in the background with grass green and forest green for the bush on the left.
- 3Color the shell's spiral in chocolate brown and the shell plates in amber orange, keeping the rim edges where they are.
- 4Add soft yellow to the belly plates and pale cream to the small foot at the bottom.
- 5Color the telescope tube in sky blue and its far end in light blue. Fill the stars, fireflies and shooting star tail with golden yellow, leaving the moon and the star outlines white.
- 6Optional: Add a few darker strokes in the shell and grass for depth, and color the pebbles in light gray.
