Sleepy Squirtle-Like Turtle Under a Crescent Moon
Coloring guide
Bedtime is the theme here. A drowsy little turtle-like creature lies curled up on the grass with its eyes shut, a gentle smile on its face, and its chin resting on its front paws. A big leaf grows from the top of its head, and the round shell on its back is covered in spirals of different sizes. Small tufts of grass surround it, along with three five-pointed stars and a large crescent moon in the upper corner. The lines are clean and bold, and all those swirls give kids lots of little spaces to fill. Soft greens work well for the leaf and body, purple or teal for the shell swirls, and pale yellow for the moon and stars to keep the night calm. No sign-up is needed for the free PDF. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the round head, both paws, and both feet with soft yellow, keeping the background white.
- 2Fill the swirled shell, its outer edges, and the shell base with warm brown, following each spiral.
- 3Color the leaf on top of the head with leaf green, working from the edges toward the middle.
- 4Fill the three stars with bright yellow, and leave the crescent moon white.
- 5Add a small patch of mustard gold where the head meets the shell to give the turtle a bit of depth.
- 6Optional: Add a slightly darker touch of warm brown along the lower edge of the shell for a soft shadow.
