Mama Bear and Her Cub in a Flower Meadow

Coloring guide
One big, smiling bear sits upright with a tiny cub snuggled against its side. The little one has a paw on the bigger bear's leg and looks up with bright, curious eyes. Both have round ears, shaggy fur edges and happy open-mouthed smiles. The meadow is kept simple, with grass tufts and daisy-style flowers on tall stems along the left, the right and the bottom edge. Clean, thick outlines and roomy shapes make this free printable easy for preschoolers and early elementary kids, and the fur tufts and petals give older children something to work on. Honey-brown for the big bear and caramel for the cub look good, plus pink, yellow and purple flowers so the bears pop. This fits right in with our Bear coloring pages — see also Shark and Giraffe.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill mama bear's big body and haunch with warm brown, leaving the eye whites and eye shines white.
- 2Color the cub's body, tail and back paw with caramel, so the little one looks golden next to mama.
- 3Use light tan for mama's muzzle and the cub's front paw, and cream for the cub's muzzle.
- 4Add soft pink to mama's inner ears and mouth, and blush pink to the cub's right ear.
- 5Paint the flower petals sunny yellow and the top left flower center tangerine orange, then add grass green to the leaves and grass.
- 6Optional: Add a few darker strokes of warm brown along the bears' bodies for a bit of fur texture; leave the flower centers at the bottom white for a nice sparkle.
