Napping Bear Beneath a Big Oak

Coloring guide
At the foot of a large tree, a chubby little bear is curled into a ball with its head on its front paws, eyes shut and a tiny smile on its face. Thick bark lines climb the tall trunk to a leafy canopy with scalloped edges, and oak-style leaves drift down through the air. Grass tufts, small flowers and a few fallen leaves dot the ground around the bear. Big open shapes and bold outlines make it easy for preschoolers and early elementary kids, and it's a free printable that suits quiet time. Browns for the bear and trunk, then orange, red and golden yellow leaves, give it a cozy fall feel. Fans of Bear coloring pages often like Shark and Giraffe as well.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big tree canopy on the top left and right, and the lower leafy clumps on both sides, filling them in leaf green.
- 2Color the bear's whole body, head, tail and both front paws in bear brown, keeping the tree trunk and the background white.
- 3Fill the bear's muzzle in cream and the inside of its round ear in peach to give it a soft, friendly face.
- 4Color the scattered leaves around the tree: golden yellow for some and orange for others, mixing them for a cozy autumn feel.
- 5Finish the flowers at the bottom in hot pink, coral pink and lavender purple, then add the small details. Optional: add a little darker brown shading along the bear's back to make it look rounder.
