In the middle of this page sits a big, smiling mama octopus with long eyelashes, shiny round eyes and a bubbly spotted head. Four baby octopuses gather around her, two on each side near the bottom, each with a happy face and curly tentacles. One baby sits right in front, tucked between her arms. The sea floor shows tall wavy seaweed on both sides, a few floating bubbles at the top, small pebbles and three seashells along the bottom edge. Big shapes keep it easy for little hands, and the suckers and head spots give older kids some detail. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the four baby octopus heads and tentacles tangerine orange, leaving the little highlight dots and eye whites white.
- 2Fill the big mama octopus head, arms and curled tentacle tips with soft lavender, leaving her eye whites and the inside of the curls white.
- 3Color the swaying seaweed on both sides of the picture leaf green, and add the deep violet spots on top of mama's head.
- 4Color the sand patches golden yellow, the pebbles medium gray, the bubbles sky blue, and the shells with coral pink and pale cream.
- 5Optional: add a little extra shading with a slightly darker version of each color on the undersides of the tentacles for depth.
