Matching Animals to Homes Activity Sheets

Coloring guide
Four little animals line up on the left side of this matching page, and a dotted line runs from each one to the place it belongs. A small bird with open wings points to a woven twig nest holding three eggs. A smiling fish with bubbles swims toward a round fishbowl with seaweed and pebbles. A squirrel hugging an acorn links to a tree trunk with an oval hollow, and a cheerful striped bee connects to a hanging beehive. Kids can trace each dotted path with a pencil, chat about where every creature lives, then color it all in. Golden yellow and black suit the bee and hive, and an orange fish will stand out against a blue bowl. Print or download it for a relaxed afternoon. Looking for more? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: color the bird's body and wings sky blue, the squirrel's body and tail caramel brown, and the fish body and beehive golden yellow.
- 2Fill the fish's tail and fins with bright orange and tangerine orange, and color its top fin coral red. Give the squirrel's inner ears coral pink.
- 3Color the fish bowl water and its top section light blue, the bowl's rim and glass pale blue, and the pebbles at the bottom sandy tan. Leave the bowl's background white.
- 4Color the bee's head and body lemon yellow, its stripes charcoal black, and its wings pale blue. Paint the tree branch tan brown and the leaves leaf green.
- 5Add the details: make the eggs eggshell cream, the squirrel's belly pale peach, the acorn amber orange, the tree hole dark brown, and the beehive door chocolate brown. Keep the eye whites and the tree trunk white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading along one side of the beehive, the fish body and the squirrel's tail to give them more depth.
