Meadow Day with a Baby Unicorn and Butterfly
Coloring guide
In a grassy meadow, a smiling baby unicorn has a little butterfly resting right on the tip of its striped horn. The unicorn has big sparkly eyes, long lashes, a wavy flowing mane, and a curly tail with ribbon-like lines that are fun to color. You'll spot tulips and large daisies up front, tufts of grass, and rolling hills with puffy bushes behind. Up in the sky, a happy sun with a smiling face sends rays in every direction. Big open shapes are good for preschoolers and early elementary kids, while the mane and petals leave older children room for detail. A soft lavender mane and tail with a pink and yellow horn would look sweet, and an orange butterfly will pop. Print or download it for classroom time or a rainy day. Looking for more? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the grass and hills: color the background hills and grass in grass green and lime green, leaving the sky and sun rays uncolored.
- 2Fill the sun face with sunny yellow and add the bushes in forest green.
- 3Color the unicorn's mane and tail in stripes: sky blue, violet purple, light pink, rose pink and sunny yellow, and the horn in pale yellow, sky blue and pink bands.
- 4Add the flowers and tulips: give the tulips rose pink and peach pink, the flower centers sunny yellow, and the petals violet purple and light lilac, leaving the big flower petals white.
- 5Finish the ears with peach pink inside, color the front hooves violet purple, and keep the unicorn's body, face and eye whites white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shade on the grass and along the mane edges to make the drawing feel more dimensional.
