A big smiling dolphin curves across the page, and a small baby tucks in close against her belly. Both have round, happy eyes. Mom has long lashes and an open grin, while the little one looks up at her with a cheerful smile. Bubbles of different sizes drift upward around them, wavy seaweed stands on both sides of the bottom edge, and a few rounded rocks sit on the sea floor. Thick outlines and large open areas work well for younger kids with crayons or chunky markers, and the bubbles and seaweed leave older children some small spaces for detail. Sky blue for the mother, a lighter aqua for the baby and bright greens for the seaweed would look great. Print it free for school or home. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill both dolphins' bodies, fins, and tails with ocean blue, leaving the eye whites untouched.
- 2Color the baby dolphin's belly stripe and the lighter patch beside the mother's lower fin in pale blue.
- 3Color the small bubbles in bright sky blue and the larger bubbles in pale blue, leaving the shine spots white.
- 4Color all the seaweed fronds in grass green, then fill the rocks at the bottom with stone gray.
- 5Color the open mouths of both dolphins in coral pink. Optional: add a few light strokes of darker blue along the dolphins' edges for a bit of depth.
