Mother Bear, Two Cubs and Lake Reflections

Coloring guide
Behind two fluffy cubs stands a big mother bear, and all three lean over the edge of a rocky shore to look at the water. Their faces show up in the ripples below, a fun mirror-image detail for kids to color. Lily pads and two blooming lotus-style flowers float up front, and grasses, leafy plants and rocks frame the sides. Past the bears, a calm lake stretches toward tall pine trees, puffy clouds and a large mountain range with a pointed peak. The fur is drawn with short, textured lines, so crayons and fine markers both work well. Chocolate and honey browns suit the bears, soft greens the lily pads, and pale blues and lavenders the water and faraway mountains. Print it at home to add to your coloring page collection. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big bears: color the mother bear and both cubs chestnut brown, leaving the eye whites, nose shine and small fur highlights white.
- 2Fill the lake and the water near the bears with bright blue, and the sky with sky blue, leaving the cloud at the top left white.
- 3Color the mountains with light blue and slate blue, keeping the snowy peaks white.
- 4Paint the rocks and the bank with light gray, then color the pine trees with forest green, pine green and dark teal.
- 5Add the lily pads in leaf green and the water lily flower in rose pink, then color the bushes with sage green.
- 6Finish with the reflections in the water using charcoal gray, blue gray and tan brown. Optional: add a little darker brown on the bears' bellies and shadows for depth.
