Mother Cow and Calf Beside a Wooden Fence
Coloring guide
Here a big mother cow stands in a grassy farm field while her little calf snuggles against her side, gazing up with a happy face. Mom smiles down at the calf, with long eyelashes, small horns, floppy ears and a tuft of hair on her forehead. Both have big irregular patches, a swishing tail with a fluffy tip and chunky hooves. A simple wooden fence runs behind them, and small tufts of grass dot the ground around their feet. Bold lines and large patches make it comfortable for preschoolers and early elementary kids with crayons or chunky markers. You could do the patches in warm chocolate brown or soft black, leave the rest white, then add pink noses and green grass. Print it free for a farm lesson or a quiet afternoon. This fits right in with our Cow coloring pages — see also Horses and Pig.

- 2Paint the fence posts and rails light tan, and color the grass tufts and the green grass behind the legs with grass green.
- 3Color the cow's muzzle, mouth, ears and the calf's ear with blush pink, leaving the eye whites and eye shines white.
- 4Fill the hooves with charcoal gray, then color the cow's horns, white body spots, calf body and calf tail with cream.
- 5Optional: Add a little darker shading on the cow's belly and legs with chocolate brown to give the cow more depth.
