Mother Sheep Leading Two Lambs Down a Dirt Path

A big woolly mother sheep looks back over her shoulder with a smile while two smaller lambs trail close behind her on a dirt path that heads toward a farm barn. Wooden rail fences line both sides of the path, and daisy-like flowers, grass tufts and small stones are scattered along the edges. Farther back are a barn with a big X-braced door, a tall silo, stacked hay bales, a windmill, rolling hills, a leafy tree, puffy clouds and a distant pasture fence. All that fluffy wool offers lots of curly texture to color. Cream or light gray suits the sheep, warm red the barn, and yellow, pink and purple the flowers beside the path. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big barn in barn red, coloring the walls, roof and the door, and leave the small highlight beams white.
- 2Fill the grass, bushes, tree leaves and hills in bright green, adding lime green on the lighter patches of grass.
- 3Color the fences and the tree trunk in wood brown, then the hay bales in golden yellow and the silo in pale blue.
- 4Color the lambs' legs, hooves and the mother's face in cream, and the lamb muzzle and ears in tan. Keep the sheep wool, cloud and eye whites white.
- 5Add the flowers in the front beds and the bushes near the path, and finish with a leaf green touch in the small bushes.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker green in the shady spots under the bushes and along the fence bases for depth.
