Coloring guide
A big mother tiger lies curled on the ground with her small cub tucked snugly against her chest. Both look straight out with big, round, sparkly eyes. The cub rests one paw on her leg, and her long striped tail wraps around the bottom of the scene. Bold stripes cover them both, and the mother has a fluffy cheek ruff and rounded ears. Tufts of grass and a few simple flowers with petals and leaves surround them, including a tall one in the upper right and two small blooms at the bottom left. Thick, clean outlines and roomy shapes suit preschoolers and early elementary kids, and the stripes give older children some detail to work on. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill both tigers' heads, bodies, legs and paws with golden orange, leaving the white stripes and the bright eye shine uncolored.
- 2Color the mother's chest, the cub's belly and muzzle, and the cub's white paw with cream.
- 3Add soft pink to the inside of both ears and to the mother's nose.
- 4Color the tail tips and the thick stripes on the cub's tail and the mother's back with charcoal black, then add a few burnt orange touches on the mother's cheek.
- 5Color the flowers: lavender for the small flowers, orchid purple for the larger petals, and bright yellow for the flower centers. Leave the grass and background white.
- 6Optional: Add a little extra burnt orange under the stripes and along the tails to make the orange look more rounded.
